Resistance is Keeping You Trapped

When things happen in life that aren’t ideal, there isn’t any return on investment to resisting the reality in which we find ourselves. We can’t change the past and we don’t know what is going to happen in the future. The best thing we can do is decide to see this for what it is, and just watch it unfold while doing the best we can to shape the outcome.  Take a quick picture in your mind of the future you want to see, and then just start acting on the opportunities that arise in your environment. Your mind truly does control your reality, and manifests whatever you hold as your desired reality. The only thing that will get in the way of that is your resistance to reality or your resistance to the picture you have created.  People make a big deal and try to sell the concept of manifestation like it is a business.  The truth is that we are constantly manifesting and we already know exactly how to do it. We just have trouble controlling the six inches between our left and right ears. This adds more resistance to manifesting what we want.  If you think about what you don’t want, you will manifest what you don’t want. If you think about what you do want, without resistance you will manifest what you do want. You will often find that you didn’t really want what you thought you did, because the universe had something better for you.

You don’t need me or anyone else to help you get where you need to be.  You are already everything you need for that. What will get you where you want to be is controlling your resistance to what you can’t control, and resistance to your desired reality. Many Western self help and success programs focus primarily on the external, but the only place you need to focus is inward. That is where the answer to your life’s struggle lives.

Taking one hundred percent responsibility for your life is looking inward.  Taking responsibility doesn’t mean taking blame for things gone wrong. It just means that if you put the problem out there you can’t control it.  It just means focusing on what you can control, and not putting undue pressure on yourself. The first problem is thinking that there is a problem.  Anytime you think there is a problem it creates resistance.  If you think of it as something that just happened without having to assign blame, you can immediately get to the business of making things better. Don’t get me wrong there are some hurtful situations in life and people do bad things, it just isn’t worth focusing your attention on. The minute you do, you are taking energy away from making it better. It isn’t doing the work that wears us out, it is fighting our own minds while doing the work that wears us out. For sure you need to take action if you want to achieve something just do away with all the mental gymnastics and it gets easier.  We all know that perfectly imperfect human being in our lives where everything is drama, and we may be that person. It’s OK, the good news is just to quell the drama and take action. Don’t linger on the past, just make the future better.

Take thirty days and do an experiment.  Just treat yourself like someone you want to help.  Give yourself all the empathy and respect you would give others.  Part of the golden rule says to love your neighbor as yourself.  Love yourself first, and then you will see how to love your neighbor.  As a matter of fact, most of us shouldn’t talk to our neighbors the way we talk to ourselves. Take note of self-criticism. Give yourself some grace, you aren’t perfect now and you most likely never will be. On another note, make a decision that no matter what happens it’s just something happening and the important thing is how you respond. Take a few minutes every day, close your eyes and take a few deep breaths, and just pay attention to any thoughts that come up.  Practice not reacting, or adding anymore thoughts to them.  This is the gateway to creating the space you need to get beyond your mind’s resistance to life.
