I recently heard something that sounded a bit sketchy to me, but I have been testing the statement now for several weeks and the results have been very good. The statement is that “it is not your conscious mind’s job to know how and when things are going to happen.” When we set out to achieve something worthwhile, usually a flood of thought starts around how we will accomplish what we want to do, and those thoughts are constantly causing us to take actions and creating a sense of busyness in our lives. My first thought was that if I don’t worry about how, I won’t get anything done. What I discovered was that not worrying about how, helped me not to worry but I still got everything done and then some. On top of that I started noticing opportunities to get ahead even further. Because my mind hadn’t yet decided exactly how something should happen, I would naturally pick up cues in my environment that told me what to do when. Also the work didn’t seem so bad, because it was agreed to at the moment, and started right away. I still planned out what I had to do for the day, but I didn’t obsess over the list. When I start something I create a picture of the outcome, figure out the first step and get started, not worried about how it will all come together. You will find that the universe (your subconscious / higher self) does a much better job of planning and ordering execution than you do. I have heard it said at least a hundred times by people who had done what I wanted to do. They said “you already know what you need to do, you just need to do it.” I finally understood, I knew what to do, but the busyness in my mind was blinding me to it.
Give yourself a break this week and stop worrying about how something will happen, and just trust that it will happen. Just figure out the first step and get started. When you catch yourself worried about consequences and how and when something is going to happen, just go back to putting in the work. Because you won’t be worried about anything in the past and future it will all seem so much easier.
Give it a try and let me know what you think.
